KCC Chief Proposes Meeting on Cyber Security

The head of the Korea Communications Commission has proposed that the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) hold a high-level meeting on protecting online information.

Choi See-joong made the proposal on Tuesday during the OECD High Level Meeting on the Internet Economy that opened at the OECD headquarters in Paris.

Before delivering the meetings keynote address, Choi said that in order for countries to establish a “smart” society,” it is imperative that they tackle issues related to cyber crimes, which are growing globally.

Some 300 ministers and vice-ministers of OECD member countries are taking part in the OECD High Level Meeting on the Internet Economy, which will end on Wednesday. Participants are expected to adopt a joint declaration that will include each OECD member country’s principles on devising Internet-related policies.
