Sources: NK, Russia Cancel Plans for Summit

Government sources in South Korea and Russia say a summit slated for Friday between North Korean leader Kim Jong-il and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will not be held.

South Korean government sources in Moscow said Wednesday that the summit is highly likely to have been called off after Pyongyang and Moscow failed to reach an agreement while coordinating details of the summit’s agenda.

Russian government sources also said that there is a more than 80 percent chance the planned summit will not be opened.

Kim Jong-il has canceled planned visits to Russia in previous occasions.
