S.Korea’s PRT Base in Afghanistan Attacked Again

South Korea's provincial reconstruction team (PRT) base in Afghanistan has been attacked with rockets, once again.

The Foreign Ministry said Tuesday that two rockets landed within the base in Charika at around one-forty a.m. Tuesday, Korea time.

A ministry official said there were no casualties and that the ministry would collaborate with Afghan police to investigate the situation first thing in the morning.

The Charika base had sustained a similar attack on June 20th with two rockets landing in the base. The number of attacks targeting the Charika base amounts to eleven for this year alone. It is also the sixth since Bin Laden died.

The Ashena Unit has not ruled out a retaliatory attack by the Taliban following Bin Laden’s death and is preparing for possible terrorist attacks while maintaining the highest level of alert at the base.
