WikiLeaks: NK Leader Expressed Distrust of China

A U.S. diplomatic cable disclosed by WikiLeaks says that North Korean leader Kim Jong-il has expressed his distrust in China and his discontent with South Korea's Foreign Ministry.

According to the U.S. Embassy in Seoul's secret cable sent to the U.S. State Department, Kim expressed his distrust of China in a meeting with Hyundai Group Chairwoman Hyun Jeong-eun, who was visiting the North in August 2009.

In addition, Kim reportedly expressed his discontent with the South Korean foreign ministry, saying the ministry, which does not understand the North, is taking control of Seoul’s policy on the North instead of the Unification ministry.

Kim also stressed that the Seoul government should realize the spirits and ideas of the June 15th inter-Korean Joint Declaration and the October 4th inter-Korean summit declaration.
