The Voice of America says that delegates from U.S. civilian aid groups are monitoring the distribution of relief supplies in North Korea.
Six officials from five U.S. humanitarian organizations, including Samaritan’s Purse, arrived in Pyongyang on Friday and began the process on Saturday in Gangwon Province and Hwanghae Province.
Their mission will continue until September tenth.
The U.S. aid workers will also survey the scale of damage North Korea has suffered from floods during this summer.
The U.S.-based humanitarian organization “Christian Friends of Korea” told VOA that details of a second batch of aid to North Korea will be finalized after the monitoring team returns from the North.
With the support of the U.S. government, the aid groups sent 90 tons of relief supplies such as water purifiers, medical and hygienic goods for North Korean flood victims on Friday. The aid arrived in Pyongyang on Saturday.
