A ranking official of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce says the U.S. government and Congress will cooperate to ratify the U.S.’ free trade agreements with South Korea, Panama and Colombia within six or eight weeks.

Vice president of international affairs at the chamber, John Murphy, said he is confident that the ratification of the free trade pacts will be approved by Congress, as the chamber has been pushing for the passage of the trade pacts for several years.

He added that the USCC will push to have the trade treaties ratified before U.S. President Barack Obama’s annual meeting with the leaders of Asia-Pacific countries slated for November.
