Sales Ban on Samsung Galaxy Tab Upheld in Germany

A German court has denied a request by Samsung Electronics to nullify the ban on the sale of its Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet computer in Germany.

The Regional Court of Düsseldorf on Friday upheld a preliminary injunction against the sale and marketing of the tablet PC granted to Apple on August 9th. The court said the tablet cannot be sold in Germany acknowledging Apple's claim that Samsung infringed on the patented design rights of its iPad.

Samsung says it respects the court ruling but will study the verdict and immediately file an appeal. The Korea-based company also said it will lodge a protest to the banned sale of its Galaxy Tab 7.7 in Germany.
