US Pacific Fleet Commander Concerned of NK's 'Unpredictability'

The commander of the U.S. Navy’s Seventh Fleet says he is concerned more about North Korea than other Asian countries because of the communist state’s “unpredictability.”

Vice Adm. Scott Swift spoke to reporters about his concern Wednesday in Hong Kong where the USS George Washington aircraft carrier was making a visit.

Swift said he spends a lot of time thinking about North Korea because of its "unpredictability,” adding that insight to what the North is thinking about is very limited given that the communist state is a closed society.

Swift said he wants to maintain good relationships with his counterparts in Asia so that he can anticipate what moves the North may make.
