Taiwan to Hold Massive Military Drill

Taiwan’s Army, Navy and Air Force will hold a massive joint military drill to simulate an invasion of the island by China.

The Defense Ministry of Taiwan said that the military exercise will be held from November 14th to the 18th in its central and southern regions in preparation of national security emergencies.

The drill will be based on a scenario where the enemy lands on the southern coastal region of Pingtung County and encounters a Taiwanese infantry brigade in the central region of the island.

F-16 and Mirage 2000 fighter jets, Hawkeye E-2K aircrafts and AH-1W Super Cobra Attack helicopters will be used in the exercise.

Experts on cross-strait relations believe that China has 16-hundred missiles aimed at Taiwan from its southeastern coastal area and that it recently deployed a new type of ballistic missile to that region.
