A 180-kilometer road linking Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh and southern port city Sihanoukville has opened.

Thanks to South Korea’s development aid of 57 million U.S. dollars, the narrow and congested road has been reborn as a key road for Cambodia’s logistics and transportation.

The Cambodian government held a massive event to celebrate the completion of the road in order to express its gratitude for South Korea’s assistance.

South Korea has provided 340 million dollars to Cambodia in credit assistance over the past decade.

Currently, about half of the nation's funds allocated for development assistance are being poured into developing countries in Southeast Asia such as Cambodia and Vietnam.

South Korea’s assistance is boosting growth in Southeast Asian nations as well as expanding its market for exports.
