Japan Forms Task Force to Prepare for TPP Talks

Japan has begun preparing for its participation in Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) talks and has formed a pan-government task force.

Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun daily on Wednesday quoted Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Yukio Edano as saying that Japan needs to set up a pan-government organization to properly share with the people information attained through the talks.

His suggestion is aimed at informing concerned Japanese citizens who are expected to be affected by the envisioned TTP in the process of devising local measures.

The United States is already asking Japan to open up its beef market and improve access to its auto market.
