US Police Arrest Man Suspected of Shooting at White House

Police in the United States have arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of firing a gun at the White House.

The U.S. Secret Service said Pennsylvania police arrested Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez at a hotel near Indiana on Wednesday, local time. The Secret Service added that Ortega-Hernandez is currently in the custody of the Pennsylvania State Police.

Ortega-Hernandez is suspected of firing two shots at the White House last Friday. One bullet struck a bulletproof window of the residential part of the White House while the other bullet struck the exterior of the building.

Police had been tracking down the suspected shooter after finding a loaded AK-47 rifle in an abandoned car on a road near the White House.

At the time of the shooting, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were on a trip to Australia and Indonesia.
