Korea Univ. Professor Elected to UN Int'l Law Commission

Korea University Professor Park Ki-kap has been elected as a member of the United Nation’s International Law Commission.

On Thursday, 135 out of a total of 193 member countries of the commission voted Park in during an election held at U.N. headquarters in New York.

His five-year term will begin from next year.

Founded in 1946, the International Law Commission is charged with devising drafts of key international agreements.

Park is an expert on international law regarding human rights, aviation and nuclear energy. He has been serving as a legal advisor for the South Korean government in U.N. general assemblies and International Civil Aviation Organization meetings.
