Yield on Italy’s State Bond Surpasses 7%

The yield on Italy’s ten-year state bond has once again surpassed the seven percent mark. Up from the six-point-956 percent recorded on November 23, it now stands at seven-point-087 percent.

A yield hovering over seven percent is considered risky and unsustainable for long-term. Portugal, Ireland and Greece sought bailout funds after the rate on their state bonds exceeded seven percent.

Italy saw the yield on its state bond surge to seven-point-46 percent on November ninth amid a political turmoil. This marked the first time the yield on Italy’s state bond has passed the seven-percent milestone since the launch of the euro zone. However, the yield went beyond seven percent threshold again on November 15th and the 16th, with the latest figure making it the third time the yield surpassed the seven percent mark this month.
