New U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Policy Glyn Davies will visit South Korea on Wednesday.

The U.S. State Department announced on Monday that Davies will visit the South from Wednesday to Sunday before traveling to Tokyo and Beijing. Davies is set to return to Washington on Thursday of next week.

The State Department said the envoy will meet with key U.S. partners in Northeast Asia and exchange views on Korean Peninsula issues.

Davies previously served as Washington's ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and replaced Stephen Bosworth as the special representative for North Korea policy last month.
