Japan’s Kyodo News says North Korea could conduct a third nuclear test within a week at the earliest.

Kyodo News said Wednesday that a security official in Russia's Maritime Province made the assessment about the potential impending test.

The official said if the North pursues the test shortly before Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is inaugurated as president on May seventh, a more unpleasant situation will unfold in the region compared to when the North conducted its second nuclear test.
