Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping says China is opposed to North Korea conducting a nuclear test.

Cheng made the remark in Russia where he is currently traveling with Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang. The vice minister said that China and Russia are in complete agreement with each other regarding North Korea's nuclear issue and the political situation in Libya.

Cheng called for a sincere decision from the international community to ease tension on the Korean Peninsula, explaining Beijing doesn't wish to see jitters in the region and it will maintain contacts to guarantee peace and stability there.

He also called for a swift resumption of the six-party talks on North Korea's nuclear program.
