Britain’s Ministry of Defense says that the British military is looking for places in London to station surface-to-air missiles to fend off any airborne terrorism threats ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games.

The ministry said residents of a neighborhood in eastern London were told that a surface-to-air missile system could be installed on an apartment rooftop and soldiers could be stationed in their neighborhood for two months from July 27th when the Olympics begin.

A ministry spokesman said that no final decision has yet been made on the deployment of the missiles.

But if the plan is realized, it will mark the first deployment of missiles in London since World War Two.
