Taliban Announces Beginning of Spring Offensive

The Taliban has announced the beginning of its “spring offensive” against U.S.-led NATO forces stationed in Afghanistan.

The Taliban said on its Web site “Jihad” that the offensive will target all foreign invaders and their contractors and cooperators who give them military and intelligence support.

The Taliban said that it will stage the spring offensive code-named “Al-Farouk” across Afghanistan starting Thursday.

The announcement comes hours after a suicide car bombing killed seven people in Kabul on Wednesday at a heavily fortified private compound mostly occupied by internationals.
