US Treads Lightly Around Rumors of N. Korea Nuke Test

The United States government has taken a cautious position over rumors that North Korea is set to conduct another nuclear test.

Fielding a question Thursday about updates on the North's possible nuclear test, State Department Deputy Spokesman Mark Toner said there is “nothing to point to other than the rumors” that have been seen in the media and elsewhere.

Toner said he cannot speak to any intelligence that the department might have on the matter. However, he did note that President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton all say North Korea has a "clear choice in front of it" and continued bad behavior will only push it deeper into isolation.
