Fire Kills 13 Children in Qatar

Thirteen children and six others are dead after a fire broke out in a shopping mall in the Qatari capital of Doha on Monday.

The fire occurred at a child care center at the Villaggio mall in western Doha at 11:30 a.m., local time. Four of the young victims were Spanish citizens living in the capital.

Qatar’s Ministry of Interior said the fire killed 19 people, including four teachers and two civil defense officials. The ministry said it took several hours to bring the fire under control.

Seventeen others were wounded, including four children. Most of the injured were firefighters.
