Myanmar’s democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi left her home nation for the first time in 24 years Tuesday to attend the World Economic Forum on East Asia in Thailand.

Upon leaving Myanmar, Aung San Suu Kyi said that she had no special feeling for the overseas trip. She added that she will visit a town of Myanmar migrants in Thailand during her five-day stay.

Aung San Suu Kyi will speak at the World Economic Forum on East Asia on Friday. Hosted by Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, the forum will bring together 600 foreign dignitaries and representatives, including Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
