Iran is warning that Western countries’ intervention in Syria will lead to a regional conflict across the Middle East, including Israel.

Acting Iranian parliamentary Speaker Ali Larijani said in a speech before parliament that any crisis caused by Western military intervention in Syria would ultimately engulf Israel. He also said that "U.S. military officials probably have a poor understanding of themselves and regional issues because Syria is in no way similar to Libya."

The Iranian parliamentary leader’s remarks come after the U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Army General Martin Dempsey, mentioned earlier this week possible military intervention in Syria.
