Chinese Media Criticizes N.Korea's Constitutional Claim to Nuclear Power

Chinese daily The Global Times said China should object to North Korea’s latest edit of its constitution, clarifying its rights to own nuclear firearms.

An editorial that appeared in The Global Times on June second said that the constitution would aggravate relations with South Korea and Japan and also bring Taiwan to obtain its own nuclear arms, thus creating a nuclear domino effect in East Asia.

The tabloid, which is under the auspices of China’s People’s Daily, said China is not in a position to protest against North Korea by joining forces with South Korea and the United States, but it was necessary to make a clear and public objection.

The editorial also claimed that the tweaking of the constitution was carried out by the Kim Jong-un administration which aims at many profitable goals after the young leader inherited nuclear development capabilities as well as the fissile material.
