South Koreans traveling to the U.S. will no longer have to wait in long immigration lines now that the Korea Smart Entry Service has been introduced.

South Korea and the United States announced at the Dulles International Airport in Washington on Tuesday that they will bilaterally operate the service.

The service allows people to enter a country after passing through kiosks instead of getting in immigration lines for face-to-face interviews with immigration officials if they register their fingerprints and digital photo in advance.

South Koreans age 17 or older who have a resident registration card and electronic passport that is valid for at least five years can register with the entry service.

The United States also operates this system with the Netherlands and Canada.
