Greek Radical Left Leader Vows to Reject Bailout Conditions

The head of Greece’s Coalition of the Radical Left known as Syriza has reaffirmed that he will ditch the conditions attached by the EU and IMF to bailout funds for Greece if he and his party win the second parliamentary election.

Alexis Tsipras said in a news conference on Tuesday, local time, that the austerity measures Greece promised to implement in return for rescue funds will lead his country to collapse.

The euro zone and the IMF will be able to suspend bailouts to Greece if Syriza wins the second parliamentary election on June 17th and scraps belt-tightening measures.

Tsipras also reiterated that Greece will remain in the euro zone.
