Int’l Oil Prices Edge up Ahead of OPEC Meeting

International oil prices have inched up ahead of a meeting of ministers from member nations of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange, West Texas Intermediate for July delivery ended its three-day downward trend and gained zero-point-eight percent, or 62 cents, to 83 dollars and 32 cents per barrel.

At the London ICE Futures Exchange, Brent crude traded at 97 dollars and 27 cents per barrel, down zero-point-74 percent, or 73 cents, from the previous day.

Bloomberg predicts that the OPEC will decide to freeze its oil production quota for the first time in ten years despite the falling international oil prices.

The OPEC is holding a ministerial meeting on Thursday.
