Korean Americans Most Attached to Ethnic Backgrounds

A U.S.-based research center says in its latest report that Korean Americans, among all Asian Americans, are the most attached to their ethnic backgrounds.

The finding was made in Pew Research Center’s recent survey of immigrants from six Asian countries, South Korea, Japan, China, the Philippines, Vietnam and India. In the poll, only 29 percent of Korean Americans answered that they are typical Americans.

Sixty-two percent of Korean Americans said that learning the Korean language is very important, while 52 percent of Chinese Americans and 25 percent of Japanese Americans placed high value on learning their mother tongues.
