Additional Remains of S. Korean Draftees to Japan Discovered

The remains of South Koreans drafted to Japan under Japanese colonial rule are said to be more than previously known.

According to Japan’s Asahi Shimbun, a recent study by the South Korean government showed that the remains of an additional four-thousand-21 South Korean draftees are currently in Japan, which is more than the two-thousand-691 bodies previously reported by the Japanese government.

The remains are those of South Koreans who were forcibly drafted to Japanese coal mines and armament factories during the colonial years.

The Korean government is demanding the Japanese government to return the remains at its expenses.
