As the death of a Nigerian national while in Chinese police custody sparks violent protest among Africans, Chinese media are reporting on stories that shed light on African-related crimes in the country.

Guangzhou Daily reported on a Nigerian man who was arrested for a series of alleged theft cases against taxi drivers, while Chinese internet portals are posting related stories as their headlines.

This comes after a Nigerian man, who was arrested for fighting, died after being taken to a police station in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou China, leading to the Africans’ strong backlash. Some say such moves by the Chinese media are aimed at silencing the Africans.
