Rio+20 Summit Ends With Green Agreement

The UN sustainable development summit in Brazil ended after three days of meetings where political leaders concluded with a declaration for green economies.

The Rio+20 agreement signed at the end of the three-day event pushed for policies towards creating green economies.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said the meeting had been very successful, with participating countries establishing agreements over 26 industries.

However, heads of global non-governmental organizations said the Rio+20 meeting had been filled with vague goals and failed to offer specific objectives and actions for sustainable development during a separate summit.
