S.Korea Sweeps UN Public Service Awards

South Korea’s e-government system has swept the United Nations Public Service Awards for the second consecutive year.

In the 2012 E-Government Survey published by the UN, Seoul topped the Asian charts in e-government, e-participation, as well as the general global category for e-government.

South Korea received the awards at the 30th UN Public Service Awards ceremony held on Monday in New York City.

The UN has evaluated and ranked e-government systems of all of its member countries every year since 2003 and inaugurated the e-Government Special Awards in 2010.

The Ministry of Public Administration and Security expects the nation's e-government-related exports to easily reach this year’s target of 300 million U.S. dollars, saying that it recorded 235 million dollars last year from a mere 100-thousand dollars in 2002.
