Turkey Deploys Tanks to Syrian Border

Turkey has ordered its forces to be on alert and deployed tanks and armored vehicles to the Syrian border.

Local media said Tuesday that the Turkish military deployed 15 tanks, armored vehicles, and long-range artillery launchers to the border with Syria from the southeastern city of Diyarbakir.

In response to Syria’s shooting down of a Turkish military jet, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said any risk posed by Syria on the Turkish border will be "considered a threat and treated as a military target.”

He then warned that the "rules of engagement" with Syria have changed and said that Syria’s Bashar al-Assad government has clearly become a threat to Turkey’s security.
