Special envoy to Syria Kofi Annan is expected to propose setting up a transitional government of national unity in a bid to end the country’s war.

AFP reported that according to Annan’s roadmap on Syria’s power transition, the UN-Arab League peace envoy is projected to call for an implementation of irreversible measures to the Assad government.

Under the proposal, Syria’s new cabinet would include members from both sides of the Syrian conflict, but exclude those whose participation could affect its stability and reconciliation.
