Apple Wants Sales Ban on 8 Samsung Products in US

Apple has requested that a U.S. court issue an injunction to ban the sale of eight Samsung Electronics products in the U.S., including Galaxy S2 smartphones.

Apple’s move apparently comes as a follow-up measure to a U.S. jury verdict last week that 28 Samsung Electronics products infringed on the U.S. firm's patents. In requesting the injunction, Apple targeted Samsung’s latest products.

However, key Samsung products, the Galaxy S3 smartphone and Galaxy S Note 2, aren't on the sales ban list. This means that even if the other eight products are pulled from shelves, Samsung is unlikely to see a serious blow to sales in the U.S. in the short term.

United States District Judge Lucy Koh will open a hearing on September 20th to consider Apple’s request for an injunction.
