Venezuelan Oil Refinery Still Burning after Deadly Explosion

A huge fire is still raging at Venezuela’s largest oil refinery after an explosion killed dozens of people over the weekend.

International news outlets report that black smoke is still pouring from several burned tanks at the Amuay Refinery in northern Venezuela.

Venezuelan authorities say the disaster has killed 48 people but the death toll could rise further since dozens of others are wounded. They noted half of the dead are local guards.

Amuay is one of the world’s largest oil refineries churning out 900-thousand barrels of oil a day.
