Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair is insisting on the need to maintain the euro.

Brazilian media reported that Blair said in a financial seminar held in Sao Paulo that the euro’s loss of its status as a single currency would be a disaster.

The former prime minister said despite many difficulties, Europe must rebuild its finances and maintain the euro, noting he expects Britain to actively join in the effort.
