US Court Bans Sale of Kolon Fiber in US

South Korea's leading textile maker Kolon Industries will not be able sell products produced with a cutting edge synthetic fiber in the United States for the next 20 years.

A U.S. court has acknowledged the charge that Kolon violated trade secrets of another firm.

A federal judge in Virginia sided with the multinational chemical giant DuPont in a lawsuit it filed requesting a sales ban on Kolon products.

The court cited a jury verdict last month that said that Kolon stole DuPont's manufacturing technology. The court banned Kolon products using the high-strength fiber from being sold in the U.S. for 20 years.

The banned fiber is used in making anti-ballistic body armor for the military and police. Kolon's fiber has been a competitive rival of that of DuPont.
