A columnist for the U.S.-based Washington Post published a piece on the Web site late Friday saying that Apple should lose Samsung’s appeal in order for information technology to continue innovation.

The Washington Post columnist, Vivek Wadhwa, said IT companies would be unable to develop new technology for fear of going bankrupt from similar patent lawsuits if Apple wins the appeal.

Wadhwa said that a win for Apple could lead to Apple becoming “complacent” like Microsoft did when it was in its prime, and that the win would neither be helpful to Silicon Valley nor Apple itself.
