The Los Angeles Times reports that more Asian Americans will take up the political spotlight in the U.S. this election season.

Seventeen candidates of Asian heritage are running for Congress this year, a record figure in U.S. election history.

President of the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies Gloria Chan said the historic number of Asian American candidates is a natural result of the community’s political maturity over many years, referring to it as the tipping point.
