Clinton Arrives in China for 2-Day Trip

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in Beijing on Tuesday for a two-day visit.

Clinton will hold talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and discuss issues regarding the South China Sea, East China Sea and Iran’s nuclear issue. The two will also address the fighting between government forces and antigovernment rebels in Syria.

Ahead of her departure, Clinton said the U.S. has national interests in bringing peace and stability to the South China Sea where tensions are mounting.

The U.S. is pressuring China to implement a binding code of conduct to manage South China Sea territorial disputes, while China has urged the U.S. to take measures that would be advantageous to promoting stability in the region.
