7.6 Magnitude Quake Rocks Costa Rica

A powerful earthquake has jolted the western part of Costa Rica.

The seven-point-six magnitude quake killed two people and injured some 20 others in a region 140 kilometers west of the capital city San Jose. The quake also caused a power outage in the capital.

Earthquake and tsunami warnings were issued for Costa Rica and neighboring countries Nicaragua and Panama.

Costa Rica was hit by a six-point-one magnitude earthquake in 2009 that left 40 people dead.
