Firefighters are predicting that it will take more than week to extuinguish wildfires raging in a national park in Southern California.

The wildfires broke out on September third and have been burning a 15 square kilometer area of forest that is rougly twice the size of Seoul's financial district of Yeouido.

Firefighters are struggling to control the flames despite the efforts of four large transport planes, ten helicopters, and 800 men. Local officials say dry weather, strong winds and the precipitous topography in the region are making it difficult to control the blaze.

Six firefighters have been hospitalized for injuries sustained while battling the wildfires.
