The report was issued by WHO to mark World Suicide Prevention Day on September tenth. According to the report, one death occurs every 40 seconds around the globe from suicide, more than the number of deaths that occur in war.

Suicide rates were highest in Lithuania and Russia, while Latin American countries had the lowest rates.

Men were likely to die from suicide three times more than women, but women were found to have attempted suicide three times more than men.
