US Wants Resolution of Territorial Dispute Through Dialogue

The U.S. government has again reaffirmed that it wants South Korea, China and Japan to work through their territorial issues and settle them calmly.

U.S. State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said in a news briefing on Monday that Washington is urging dialogue and negotiation for Japan’s territorial claim over South Korea’s Dokdo islets and a dispute between China and Japan over the Senkaku Islands.

Nuland said U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met with President Lee Myung-bak and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda separately on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Vladivostok and encouraged dialogue between both sides.
