Chinese people are apparently canceling their trips to Japan amid the escalating sovereignty dispute between China and Japan over a group of islands in the East China Sea.

Chinese media report that many Chinese people had planned to travel to Japan during the National Day holidays spanning from late this month to early October. However, the dispute has led to as many as 20 to 30 percent of the planned trips being canceled.

Chinese travel agencies say that a tour to Japan costs 10-thousand yuan during the National Day holidays and usually, tours are booked a full month in advance.
