Int’l Community Condemns Attack on US Consulate in Libya

The international community is condemning the deadly attack by armed gunmen on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi in which U.S. ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other Americans were killed.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon strongly denounced the attack on the U.S. Consulate in a statement. He said the UN opposes the insult of any religion but nothing can justify the cruel and brutal attack on the U.S. Consulate.

The UN Security Council also said in a statement that the attack is unjustifiable.

French President François Hollande urged Libyan authorities to take proper actions to bring to justice the killers behind the attack.

The Russian government also said that an attack on diplomats amounts to terrorism.
