The 2012 Korea Nation Branding Convention opened in Washington on Monday for a month-long run.

The convention aims to promote South Korea’s traditional culture and expand friendly ties between South Korea and the U.S., as this year marks the 130th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Organized by the Presidential Council on Nation Branding and the Cultural Heritage Administration, the convention will be held under the theme, “Ongoing Harmony,” and will include a diverse range of events, including traditional craftwork exhibitions, hanbok fashion shows and academic forums.
