US Files Complaint Against China with WTO over Automotive Subsidies

The U.S. government has launched an enforcement action against China at the World Trade Organization (WTO) for illegally subsidizing its exports in autos and auto-parts sectors.

U.S. President Barack Obama said while stumping in Ohio on Tuesday that the Chinese government’s action goes against international trade regulations and hurts U.S. laborers. He then said he would not tolerate such action.

The latest complaint is the third for the U.S. to file against China with the WTO during the Obama administration.

In response, China filed a complaint against the U.S. government with the WTO over U.S. duties on 24 Chinese products worth seven-point-two billion dollars.
