S. Korean Shot to Death in Mexico City

A South Korean was shot to death Thursday by two unknown assailants in Mexico City while he was going to work.

Local police said the 56-year-old Korean, identified only by his surname Kim, ran a clothes shop in Tepito Market.

The South Korean Embassy in Mexico dispatched a consul to the scene of the crime and is trying to find out details of the case.

Tepito Market houses a large number of shops run by South Koreans and is considered to be a major area of crime in Mexico City where drug deals often take place.

The latest shooting is part of several incidents in which Koreans were victims of shootings in Mexico where public security is being rattled by drug organizations’ violent crimes.
